I am not a person who gets teary too often, but I started to tear up last night. I get home from work and the boys great me as if it is any other day, and then Nathan begs to be able to go outside and play. After he is outside Bruce asks if Nathan told me his news. I said no and then proceeds to tell me that Nathan lost his first tooth. It kind of knocked the breath out of me and made me tear up a little when I realized that my baby is growing up. Nathan was so matter-of-fact about it and I am an emotional mess.
Later that evening when Bruce was telling Nathan to make sure that his tooth was under his pillow so that the tooth fairy takes the tooth and leaves him some money, Nathan asked what the tooth fairy looked like. We weren't sure what to tell him. There are pictures of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, but rarely anything on the tooth fairy. Bruce improvised and told him that the tooth fairy had wings and a magic wand. That seemed to satisfy him.
