Easter Egg Hunt

On Sunday, the fire department sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt. They actually had four different groups and our boys didn't do so hot. The first group was preschool kids with parent help, and that was the group that Darren was in. I had debated including Darren, but I figured that it couldn't hurt. Once we got there, Darren was probably one of the older kids in that group! There were babies six months old that were getting half a dozen eggs! Darren only got one. I "boxed" in the egg and told him to pick it up, but he didn't want to touch it. So I picked it up and handed it to him to put in his bucket, and he finally did that. Once we were done with that, the eggs were pretty much gone. Then we went to the fire truck get his candy. I bet there was 50 kids in the preschool with parents help.

Nathan didn't fair much better in the preschool with no help. There were at least 50 kids in that category also. Nathan was overwhelmed and he forgot to run so he only got one egg. He didn't feel well on Saturday so I think that he still wasn't feeling the best, and it just became too much for him. After the race is over, I take him to get his candy. Well, we see Joyce who is Nathan's teacher at daycare and she sees Nathan crying. She asks what is wrong and finds out that he is upset that he only got one egg so she starts asking the firemen if there are extra eggs left. She knows the firemen pretty well since her Dad is like assistant chief. Well, it turns out that our neighbor Scott is a fireman and he had some extra eggs. He gave Nathan two more and that did seem to cheer him up. In all, I bet they had over 100 kids at the park and it was a little overwhelming, even for me!

At two o'clock, the daycare had an Easter Egg hunt. That went much better. Darren didn't seem so overwhelmed and he managed to snag over a dozen eggs. Nathan wasn't overwhelmed either and he also picked up more than a dozen eggs. They had much more fun at the daycare one as there was only six other kids in Darren's group and maybe ten in Nathan's. Everyone who went to the one sponsored by the fire department, then went to the daycare one all thought that the daycare one was much better.
