At 9:00 Saturday morning the boys are asking to go outside and play in the snow already. I tell them to wait a while and hopefully it will warm up a little bit. Around 11:00 I had enough of their begging, pleading and whining that I let the older two go out. Of course that upset Justin but with the cough that he has and the fact that he gets bronchitis so easy, I refused to let him out.
Darren played outside for about a half hour and then came in to “warm up.” He stood on the carpet by the door for a few minutes and then went back outside. After about ten minutes he came back in and said that he was going to stay in. I help him get out of his snow clothes and hang them up while warning him to be quiet as I am trying to get Justin to take a nap in the living room. As I am making lunch I realize that I have not heard from Darren for a while and that is very unlike him. I find him in his bed under the covers and ask him what is wrong. He tells me that he is cold and is trying to warm up. When lunch is ready Justin is sleeping on the couch and I go to tell Darren that it is time to eat. He tells me that he is not hungry and wants to take a nap.
Around 2:30 Nathan and the neighbor girl come in from outside after me coaxing them to come in and warm up. I had made cheesy-potato soup for lunch so I warmed up some bowls for Nathan and the neighbor girl. At this point Darren comes out of his bedroom and Justin is up from his nap so there is a lot of laughing going on in the kitchen. Nathan asks for hot chocolate for himself and Leslie. Of course that means that Darren and Justin want some too, but I only had three packets left. After everyone left the bar, Darren is still sitting there. I ask Darren if he feels okay and he tells me that his head hurts. I knew there had to be a reason that he was laying around all afternoon and he volunteers to take a nap! I give him some Tylenol and hope that is his only symptom.
Later that evening the boys had a sitter while we went out. Darren tells us that he played a game with the sitter and watched two movies with her after his brothers went to bed. So I am not sure how long he was up, but apparently resting all day recharged his batteries!
