Attitude

I know I have mentioned before in previous posts how stubborn Nathan is and I willingly admit that that trait comes from me. So let me give you a little back story to the story.

I talked to Mom briefly Saturday afternoon and she told me that my sister Carla was coming over to their house on Sunday as they were going to pick up an old kitchen table at my Grandma’s house. Mom told me that I should come over with the kids. I told her that I was going to go to Sears and do my monthly return of jeans, so Mom told me to just bring the kids over and they can play with their cousins while I run to Sears. When I tell Bruce of my plans he decides that he is going to come with me and help Dan get the table out of the basement at Grandma’s.

Sunday. We get to Mom’s house. Bruce leaves with Dan, Dad & Bill to get the table. I leave shortly after. I return some stuff, exchange some jeans and head back. I call Bruce to find out where he is at. He tells me that he is at my cousin Jason’s barn with my brother Bill. (He claims that he was helping cut wood, but I think there was more story-telling and beer drinking than anything). I get back to Mom’s and see that Justin is feeling pretty miserable, so I ask the boys to get ready to go. Nathan insists that I bring him to Jason’s barn and come back to Mom’s for his brothers. I tell him that we will all go to Jason’s at the same time to get their father.

(Now for the story part). Nathan is throwing a major buck fit and is whining, crying and demanding that I take him over the Jason’s now! After a few minutes of this, my parents are more amused than annoyed and I admit that I was borderline amused and annoyed. Finally, in a fit of amusement, Mom or Dad suggest that Nathan walk to Jason’s barn. Well, he thought that suggestion was great and took off down the driveway. I wasn’t too concerned since it is a ¼ mile long lane, it was in the mid-forties and Jason’s barn is about a ¼ mile down the road. I get the boys buckled in their seats and catch up with Nathan at “the hill” in my parent’s driveway. By this time he has cooled off considerably, but refused to get in the van even. I could see him trying not to smile, so I decided to let him just finish walking the end of the lane. Once he gets to the end of the lane though, I tell him that he has to get in the van as it was getting too dark to walk on the road.

I am not sure what I am going to do with the attitude in the future…..
