In the past two weeks or so, since it hasn't been freezing cold outside, the older two boys have played outside darn near every night. Since the snow has been melting, they come in the house full of mud and pants soaking wet.
This past Saturday they were playing outside and for some reason they decided they have to go into the neighbor's house to call me to see if they can go in the house instead of walking over and asking me. I told them no, and it was only about a half hour later that they came home anyway because the neighbor's had to leave. Nathan walks in the house with no shoes and socks on and Darren walks in the house with his shoes on but no socks. Their shoes and socks are soaking wet and the bottom of their pants are soaked.
They spent all day Saturday and Sunday outside with the neighbor kids riding bikes and Nathan's new scooter. His new scooter looks like it is a few years old with all the dried mud on it. They spent several hours outside last night and came in with muddy water splattered coats. I can trust Darren outside with Nathan without worrying to much. I tell him that he has to listen to Nathan and if he doesn't then he will have to come in the house. He didn't listen outside one time this past winter and he had to come in the house so he knows we mean business. Now he howled, cried and carried on like a madman because he came in the house, but he learned his lesson.
