We used to have fish in a five gallon aquarium, but when they all died, we cleaned the tank up and put it away. The kids have been asking lately for fish, so we decided to get the tank back out. We put water in the tank and some stuff that is supposed to help get the balance of the water where it is supposed to be. On Sunday we went to Jack's Aquarium to let the boys pick out the fish.
You would have thought that my kids have never seen an animal before. Justin kept squealing and running from cage-to-cage. He loved seeing the puppies, especially when they would try to get out of their cage. He liked looking at the bunnies. He liked looking at the parakeets when they would squawk although he kept putting his fingers around the cage and I kept having to pry them off so that he wouldn't get pecked.
After we finally got the fish picked out and bought, we went back out to our van. As we were pulling out of the parking spot, Nathan goes, "This is the best day EVER!" Never mind taking the kids to King Island to ride the rides, or to the zoo to see the animals. Just pick out $20 of fish and my kids are satisfied.

Ahh, the simple things in life. Kind of like giving a kid a gift and having him like the box better. :)
