Bruce and I are trying to teach the boys good manners, so we are constantly prompting the boys on what to say when someone holds the door open for them or compliments them on their appearance. We also are trying to teach them to say, "May I have some water please?" or "May I go outside please?" Then they are obviously expected to say thank you when we grant their request.
Last night Nathan decided that he was going to teach Darren some manners; either that or aggravate him by not sharing. Darren wanted to play with Nathan's scissors, but Nathan kept holding them out of reach. Finally Nathan goes, "Say the magic word." Darren replies, "Magic word." Nathan and I started laughing and Darren is confused because he doesn't understand what we find so funny. I explained to him that the magic word is please, and he finally got to play with Nathan's scissors.
