Over the long Holiday weekend, Nathan spent the entire time outside. On Saturday he kept begging me and asking if he could go over to one of the neighbors house. I asked him why he couldn't play by himself. He said it was more fun to play with other kids. Then I made a big mistake....
I told him that someday when we move out into the country there will not be other kids to play with and he better get used to playing by himself. He immediately started crying and saying that he doesn't want to move out into the country, that he wants to stay in this house forever! Bruce and I just looked at each other, chuckled and rolled our eyes.
The thing is that the kids he plays with now are about too big to play with him for much longer. Leslie will be seven next month and Brent just went into the fifth grade so that puts him about eleven. I guess he is so used to playing with other kids at daycare, that it is natural for him to want to play with other kids when he is at home.
