Anyone hungry? Part II

It really amazes(?), annoys(?), surprises(?) me that while we are still cleaning up dinner dishes, one of the boys will come up to me and tell me that they are still hungry. Sometimes I get upset and tell them that we just ate and that they should have ate more at dinner. Then I remember that I watched Nathan suck the meat off all the T-bones, or Darren went around eating any loose noodles on everyone’s plate or on the table. And that they ate everything and that there was no more food left for them to eat. I guess I would rather have that then the alternative.

The alternative being that sometimes my kids are temperamental. I will make beef stroganoff one day and they are practically licking the pan when it is all gone. I make it a few weeks later and they all turn their noses up at it and say that they do not like it and they are only going to have green beans/corn/peas for dinner. I lose my cool on those days when they tell me that they are still hungry while cleaning up dinner dishes. I tell them to have some of the main course, or go to bed hungry. If they are still complaining, or whining enough later, I will let them have a bowl of cereal. Then they typically eat two or three bowls….
